McClure Endorsed by Michael Nutter, Mayoral Front-runner and Former Councilman
PHILADELPHIA With just four days until his own election, current mayoral campaign front-runner Michael Nutter took the time to announce his support for Matt McClure to fill his former seat in City Council.
“Matt McClure has run a high energy campaign, and he would be a bright new addition to City Council," said Nutter. "He would be the best choice for the Fourth District."
Michael Nutter was first elected to City Council in 1991 at the age of 34. He defeated incumbent Ann Land after knocking on thousands of doors, and was overwhelmingly reelected to four terms before resigning to run for Mayor last year. The most recent public polling shows Nutter to be in first place as he heads into the home stretch of the campaign.
"When I first met Councilman Nutter nearly ten years ago while working for Mayor Rendell, I was struck by his independence and his passion. Michael Nutter was always the one willing to put in the hard work and to think outside of the box, and I aspire to follow that same path myself on Council," stated McClure.
Matt will spend the final weekend going door to door meeting voters, as he has already knocked on nearly ten thousand doors in the District. Matt is proud to have received the support of over five hundred donors and hundreds more volunteers over the course of his campaign. Matt lives in East Falls with his wife Kelly and two sons.
