PHILADELPHIA – Congressman Brady today visited the AFL-CIO building on 22nd Street to accept the endorsement of UNITE HERE! Local 274. UNITE HERE! Local 274 represents 16,500 active and retired workers, of which 16,000 currently reside in Philadelphia.
“I am proud and honored to accept the endorsement of these hard-working men and women,” Brady said. “I will work hard every single day to make their streets safer, their schools better, and their jobs more secure.
“It is also very encouraging to know that I will have thousands of UNITE HERE! members working the polls on my behalf on Election Day.”
Congressman Brady was joined by UNITE HERE! Local 274 Manager and International Vice-President Lynne Fox.
“This coming Election day Philadelphia has an important decision to make,” Fox said. “Our next Mayor will shape the future for working families at home and work. Just as we fight as a team at the bargaining table to improve our workplaces, we also do that in the world of politics.
“Workers band together when we see we can have a direct impact on political issues that affect us. That is why UNITE HERE is endorsing Congressman Bob Brady for Mayor!”
Members work in industrial laundries, hotels, casinos, food service, apparel and textile factories, and several other industries. Fox also pointed out that each industry represented by UNITE HERE! can also be found in Philadelphia.
As the next Mayor of Philadelphia Bob Brady will bring hope back to our city by fighting crime, investing in education and creating opportunity for all Philadelphians. www.bobbradyworks.com
