Philadelphia, May 6, 2007 — Tonight, appearing alongside the other four mayoral candidates at the WHYY televised debate, Michael Nutter gave another commanding performance, demonstrating once again why his candidacy is resonating so strongly with voters across Philadelphia. Nutter focused on the questions and issues of the evening, outlining his vision for a prosperous city free from gun violence and committed to improving city services and overall quality of life.
In response to the favorite questions at all the debates, Nutter once again reiterated his stance on crime by responding that “First we have to be concerned about the rights of Philadelphians not to be shot …If you are carrying an illegal weapon then I want you to be concerned.”
After the last televised mayoral debate, held at Drexel University on Friday, Michael Nutter received the praises of political analysts and citizen viewers alike.
Larry Kane commented, “Nutter looked very Mayoral and was the best communicator of the night. It is certainly not a done deal for Michael Nutter, but he has a look of confidence. Nutter has found a way to talk directly to the voter, not in platitudes but with great clarity.” This morning on ABC’s Inside Story, Terry Madonna said that, “When I looked at the debate, Mike Nutter was certainly Mayoral, if that’s the correct word. I mean, he appeared to be in command of the subject matter; [He] was unflappable.”
Nutter again showed his ‘Mayoral’ side by consistently exhibiting a determination to use these debates as an opportunity to address issues that matter to Philadelphians and to put forth his vision for the city.
