PHILADELPHIA, PA - Mayoral Candidate Chaka Fattah today released his fundraising reports for the quarter. According to today's filing, Fattah raised $1,287,771 between Jan 1 and April 30, and had over $210,000 cash on hand in his Fattah for Mayor Account.
Fattah believes that the money raised, in addition to the groundswell of support he has recently received from major organizations around the city, will carry him to victory on Election Day.
"Tens of thousands of Philadelphians, representing major churches, labor unions and advocacy groups have already pledged to support me on Election Day," said Fattah. "This is an election, not an auction. Despite the money my opponents have spent on TV ads to boost their credibility among voters, we know that a breakthrough is coming on May 15."
The support of these organizations is more than just paper for the Fattah Campaign. Many of these organizations have pledged the necessary ground troops to spread the word about Fattah's vision of opportunity in Philadelphia and help him get out the vote on Election Day.
So far, the Fattah campaign has received endorsements from IATSE Philadelphia Local No 8 Stage Employees, SEIU 32BJ, AFSCME DC 47, Steelworkers Local 404, and the Gas Workers Local 686 UWUA, and SEIU 1201. The Clergy Coalition, which represents more than 100,000 members, as well as the Pentecostal Clergy Political Action Committee, with over 25,000 members, has endorsed Fattah. ACORN PAC, the Philadelphia Taxi Owners Association, and the Valiants have also expressed support for Fattah.
"Philadelphians from a wide variety of backgrounds are joining us to usher in a new era of city government in which ALL Philadelphians have a stake in transforming our city's future," said Fattah.
