Fattah Receives NCFO SEIU Local 1201 Endorsement

PHILADELPHIA-Mayoral Candidate Chaka Fattah today won his fifth endorsement in five days, adding NCFO SEIU Local 1201 to his growing list of supporters. The union represents 3200 School District of Philadelphia Employees.

Fattah, who accepted the endorsement during a rally at the organization's Northern Liberties headquarters, was the best candidate to represent the interests of working Philadelphians, said Local 1201 President George Ricchezza.

"Chaka Fattah is a man with vision and a man with integrity," Ricchezza said. "He is a man who understands what's best for the people of Philadelphia, and best for the members of Local 1201."

"Some people think a mayor can't address poverty," Fattah said. "This endorsement by Local 1201, and the endorsements I have won from other unions and community organizations representing Philadelphia's working people, is a respectful but forceful rejection of the idea that we should ignore the plight of 25 percent of our citizens who are poor."

In addition to the support of Local 1201, Fattah has received endorsements from IATSE Philadelphia Local No 8 Stage Employees, SEIU 32BJ, AFSCME DC 47, Steelworkers Local 404, and the Gas Workers Local 686 UWUA. The Clergy Coalition, which represents more than 100,000 members, and the Pentecostal Clergy Political Action Committee, with over 25,000 members, have both endorsed Fattah. ACORN PAC, the Philadelphia Taxi Owners Association and the Valiants have also expressed support for Fattah.
