NUTTER RECEIVES ENDORSEMENTS FROM CLEAN WATER ACTION AND PHILLY FOR CHANGE
Philadelphia, May 3, 2007 — Today, Michael Nutter received the endorsement of both Clean Water Action and Philly for Change. They unveiled their endorsements today at the Water Works Restaurant in front of the Schuylkyll River. “I am pleased to receive the endorsements of both of these organizations,” Nutter said. “They know that I am the only candidate in this race that can bring real change to Philadelphia. As Mayor, I will make this a cleaner city, both physically and functionally.”
This is the first time that Clean Water Action has endorsed a candidate for Mayor. They said that they chose to endorse this time because “the next Mayor of Philadelphia must be someone who is qualified to address the environmental and community problems that affect quality of life, as well as the quality of our natural resources. We believe that Michael Nutter is the best candidate to make Philadelphia a healthier, more attractive, more environmentally responsible city.” Clean Water Action is a non-profit, non-partisan citizens group with over 10,000 members in the city of Philadelphia.
Philly for Change also endorsed Michael because he “has run a grassroots mayoral campaigns, based on an army of volunteers from all parts of the city.” Philly for Change cited “Nutter's commitment to progressive values through policy proposals at the municipal level - but also his vision for the city, leadership, and a sense that city government should be about public service and inclusiveness, and not simply private gain.” Philly for Change is a 2,000-member grassroots political organization that fights for progressive public policy at the local, state and national levels.
