NUTTER JOINS ADVOCATES IN CELEBRATING POLL SHOWING 78% PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR SMOKE-FREE LAW
WHO: MICHAEL NUTTER
WALTER TSOU, Former Health Commissioner
RACHEL MILENBACH, Health Promotion Council – Director, Tobacco Control and Prevention
WHAT: Nutter Joins Public Heath Advocates and Citizen Supporters to Celebrate the Popularity of the Smoke-Free Law
WHEN: Friday, May 4, 2007 12:00 P.M.
WHERE: Rittenhouse Square
18th Street side of the park, across from Rouge
WHY: On Friday at noon, Michael Nutter will join with advocates and community members in Rittenhouse Square to celebrate the success of smoke-free Philadelphia. Nearly four months after implementation of the law, a newly released poll conducted by Global Strategy Group shows that an overwhelming 78% of Philadelphians support the new smoke-free workplace law. “This was one of the most important issues that I worked on in my fifteen years in City Council,” said Nutter. “Though I’m not surprised, I couldn’t be more pleased that the law has been so well received.”
For comparison, the smoke-free workplace law measured favorably against Philadelphia icons such as cheese steaks, soft pretzels and the Eagles.
