School Police Association of Philadelphia Endorses Bob Brady

Brady Releases Safety in Education Policy

PHILADELPHIA – Congressman Bob Brady visited Lincoln High School today for an endorsement meeting held by the School Police Association of Philadelphia. The Congressman also released his “Ensuring Safety in Education” Policy at the event.

As mayor, Bob Brady would:

* Restore the Philadelphia School Police to a minimum of 525 officers;

* Require that all new full-time School Police Officers receive better training and are held to higher standards than “per-diem” officers;

* Immediately redeploy the most experienced officers to schools with a documented history of violence;

* Guarantee that there is at least one full-time School Police Officer deployed at every Philadelphia Public School; and

* Coordinate School Police Officer and Philadelphia Police Department deployments so that every school campus provides a safe environment before the openings and closings of the school day

“We are seeing an increase in violent incidents in our schools,” Brady said. “At the same time the number of school police has been decreasing. This doesn’t make sense to me – I want to put more officers in schools so teachers can teach and students can learn.

“I will give these officers the training and the resources they need to work with our students, and I will work with the School Reform Commission to make these essential changes.”

As the next Mayor of Philadelphia Bob Brady will bring hope back to our city by fighting crime, investing in education and creating opportunity for all Philadelphians. www.bobbradyworks.com
