Philadelphia, May 1, 2007 — Michael Nutter announced today that he has raised $3.4 million dollars in his campaign to be the next mayor of Philadelphia. Not only has he been the most successful raising money, but he also has the widest pool of donors with over 4150 people contributing to his campaign.
Nutter said, “I have so many donors because my message of change resonates with everyone. I was the one who wrote the campaign finance laws and now I’m proving that you can raise money ethically and with-in the limits.”
The momentum is clearly building for the Nutter campaign with $325,000 contributed in the last four days alone. The surge in fundraising is mirrored by the surge in poll numbers which currently have Nutter in a statistical tie for the lead. “I feel really blessed to receive such an out-pouring of support,” Nutter said. “From my old neighborhood in West Philadelphia, to the Far Northeast, people are really responding to my campaign and contributing. They know that together we can turn this city around.”
The filing deadline for this period was April 30th and reports are due May 4th.
