PHILADELPHIA, PA - Illustrating the growing momentum of his campaign, Chaka Fattah received yet another major endorsement today by the Clergy Coalition, ministers representing over 150,000 congregants.
"Chaka Fattah dares to step out of the box and tackle the causes rather than the symptoms," said Reverend Dr. Jacob L. Chatman, Pastor of Pinn Memorial Baptist Church. "We support him because he is not timid about his faith as a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church."
"I am very honored to receive the backing of the Clergy Coalition," said Fattah. "This endorsement is not just about how we will together work on housing, education, and job opportunities, it also shows that we will transform and enhance the spirit of the City."
The endorsement today of the Clergy Coalition is in addition to the backing Fattah received last week from the influential Pentecostal Clergy Political Action Committee, a group that represents over 50 churches with 25,000 members. Fattah has also been endorsed by IATSE Philadelphia Local No 8 Stage Employees, SEIU 32BJ, AFSCME DC 47, Steelworkers Local 404, and the Gas Workers Local 686 UWUA.
