ACORN PAC PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE MAYORAL ENDORSEMENT OF CONGRESSMAN CHAKA FATTAH

Tuesday, May 1st
3801 Market St, 10 am
At Sheriff Sale

Tuesday, May 1st at 10:30 am, in front of the Sheriff Sale, the ACORN PAC will formally endorse Congressman Chaka Fattah for Mayor of Philadelphia. The location will highlight Congressman Fattah’s commitment to ACORN’s foreclosure avoidance and anti-predatory lending platform, a critical part of ACORN’s Housing, Heat, & Home Repair Platform.

“We are excited to see that there is a mayoral candidate that shares ACORN’s commitment to Rowhouse Philadelphia,” says John Moore, ACORN PAC Chair, “Congressman Fattah has pledged to work with ACORN to create a new home repair program, an affordable utilities program, and foreclosure avoidance program.”

“ACORN has been a crucial voice for working Philadelphians for more than 30 years. Their successful advocacy on a host of issues has made a real difference in the lives of people in our city,” said Fattah. “Together, we will all lift up members of our community most in need.”

As Mayor, Chaka Fattah plans to establish a $10 million Philadelphia Homeowners Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program to provide emergency mortgage assistance to Philadelphia homeowners facing foreclosure. Modeled on the state program Fattah helped implement, this program would create a $10 million loan fund, to assist homeowners experiencing unavoidable, temporary difficulty making payments on mortgages.

“Congressman Fattah knows what it will take to get most of our neighborhood back in order and back to the people,” says APAC Precinct Action Leader Ollie Robinson. “I look forward to making sure my neighbors Get Out The Vote for Congressman Fattah on May 15th.”

The ACORN Political Action Committee represents Philadelphia ACORN’s 13,000 members citywide. PAC members will come together to provide valuable ground troops and GOTV expertise in the upcoming Mayoral Primaries in the behalf of Congressman Chaka Fattah.

ACORN (the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) is the nation's largest community organization of low-and moderate-income families, with more than 230,000 member families participating in neighborhood chapters in 103 cities. Learn more at www.acorn.org and www.raisewages.org
