MAYORAL CANDIDATE DWIGHT EVANS, BLACK CLERGY OF PHILADELPHIA & VICINITY TO HOLD MAJOR RALLY

PHILADELPHIA --- Mayoral candidate Dwight Evans and the Black Clergy of Philadelphia & Vicinity will hold a major rally at the West Philadelphia YMCA at 52nd & Chestnut Streets on Sunday, April 29th at 7:00 PM. A number of supporters will be on hand at the rally to voice their support for Evans and to continue to build the momentum of the campaign. Evans announced his candidacy for Mayor before more than 1,200 supporters on December 11th in North Philadelphia; his campaign slogan is “A Safer Philadelphia – Block by Block.”

Evans received the endorsement of the Black Clergy on March 6th, 2007. The Black Clergy of Philadelphia & Vicinity, headed by Reverend James Moore, is an influential group of pastors from approximately 450 churches that has consistently helped mobilize the African American electorate on election day in previous successful elections in Philadelphia. Evans has also been endorsed and supported by UFCW Local 1776, TWU Local 234, Laborers Local 332, the Guardian Civic League, and AFL-CIO Local 6.
