FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PHILADELPHIA, PA -Mayoral Candidate Chaka Fattah was joined by Shaft star Richard Roundtree when Fattah was endorsed by United Steelworkers Local 404 at the union's headquarters on Monday. The union has 1,000 active members and 1,000 retirees.
"We believe in Fattah's vision for the city," said Steelworkers Local 404 President Lindsay Patterson. "And we are proud to help elect him as Philadelphia's next mayor."
Roundtree was equally impressed with Fattah. "I'm here because we share a passion for helping children to succeed through education," said the former Shaft star, who has been active in youth programs and promoting men's health.
"These are men and women of steel standing with me," said a smiling Fattah. "And when this race is over, we'll all remember that the breakthrough came when the Steelworkers endorsed me - on the day that Shaft came to town."
