MAYORAL CANDIDATE FATTAH RECEIVES AFSCME D.C.47 ENDORSEMENT

The Second Major Endorsement of the Week

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Mayoral Candidate Chaka Fattah today received his second major endorsement of the week when AFSCME
D.C.47, whose membership consists of over 3,500 white collar municipal employees who are all taxpayers and Philadelphia voters, publicly backed his campaign. The union represents the interests of thousands of Philadelphia families.

"Unions are the backbone of Philadelphia, and to receive support from one as influential as AFSCME D.C. 47 is an honor," Fattah said. "AFSCME D.C. 47 trusts that I can go beyond simply leading, and transform Philadelphia's future with real opportunity for all Philadelphians."

The endorsement was announced at the AFSCME D.C. 47 headquarters, where Fattah was surrounded by his supporters. The membership of AFSCME D.C. 47 used a democratic process to choose the best candidate, and the union pledged to fight hard to get Fattah elected in the final 26 days of the primary election.

"D.C. 47 has a broad view of what is important in choosing a candidate. We wanted to pick the best candidate both for our members and the entire city. We feel that Congressman Fattah is the best man to run Philadelphia," said Tom Cronin, President of AFSCME D.C.47.

AFSCME D.C. 47 touts its diversity and strength in the political process. It has nine locals and over 1,000 active retirees ready to work to elect Chaka Fattah mayor of Philadelphia. The union believes a Fattah Administration that gives real opportunity to all Philadelphians is what the city needs. AFSCME D.C.47 will be vital in taking Fattah's message of opportunity to the street in the days to come.
