NUTTER’S FIRST DEBATE SUCCESSFUL

Philadelphia, April 14, 2007 — In the first televised debate of the election Michael Nutter cited his strength on the issues, his record as a City Council member and his passion for the City of Philadelphia.

Nutter referenced his work on behalf of the Philadelphia community in economic development, taxes and crime, as well as his familiarity with balancing the budget as key points during the debate.

Nutter also positioned himself as the only candidate with “ a real record of reform in the City of Philadelphia.”

Nutter said, “I will have a zero tolerance for any corruption in his administration.”

Nutter’s record includes establishing campaign finance limits to stop the pay-to play policies of the past and creating a new Ethics Board to ensure that the scandals of the past do not return to haunt the future of Philadelphia. He also talked about his ideas for reducing the crime that has made Philadelphia the murder capital of the country.

“I am committed to improving the quality of life for all Philadelphians and this debate gave me an opportunity to share my ideas on what the future can hold for Philadelphia,” said Nutter.

The debate was taped earlier in the day at CBS3’s brand new studio on Spring Garden Street.
