McClure Endorsed by Former Primary Rival Ray Bailey

Backing a Clear Sign of McClure’s Growing Momentum

PHILADELPHIA: Matt McClure has won the backing of his former primary rival, Ray Bailey. Bailey, a longshoreman, was removed from the ballot after challenge to his petitions by Carol Campbell and Curtis Jones. This new endorsement is the latest sign of McClure’s growing momentum heading into the final weeks of the race.

“I am extremely pleased to win the backing of Ray Bailey,” said McClure today. “With his help and the help of thousands of others like him across the 4th Councilmanic District, we can take back City Hall for the taxpayers and begin the make the change we need.”

Bailey is a lifelong resident of Philadelphia and has committed to working to help get McClure elected, working with him to identify supporters and getting them to the polls on May 15th.

“I am supporting Matt McClure because we need to change the way our city works,” said Bailey today. “Too many of our elected officials are focused on protecting their turf and perks and every dime that is spent doing that is a dime less that can be used for our schools, to put more police on our streets or to revitalize our neighborhoods. We need change and we need to start on May 15th.”

Since he began campaigning a year ago, McClure has visited every neighborhood in the District, knocked on thousands of doors, and raised over 100,000 dollars from more then 250 donors

McClure, a 4th generation Philadelphian, began his professional career working for the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington, DC before returning to Philadelphia to work for then-Mayor Ed Rendell. He is currently an attorney at Ballard Spahr. He and his wife Kelly and their two children live in East Falls.
