Congressman Brady Announces “Housing Opportunities for Everyone”

PHILADELPHIA – This morning Congressman Bob Brady inspected water damage in the kitchen and the bathroom of Jackie Holmes’ house at 2605 N. 9th Street. Brady, a former carpenter, toured the home to get a firsthand look at the challenges faced by low-income Philadelphia homeowners.

Outside the home, Congressman Brady highlighted his “Housing Opportunities for Everyone” policy initiative. As Mayor, Brady would:

“When people are unable to maintain the homes that they own, inevitably the end result is homelessness and urban decay,” said Brady. “Abandoned homes have a negative impact on the whole block, and homeless families place additional stress on an already strained system of social services.

“When housing opportunities exist for everyone, we all succeed. The Brady administration will work tirelessly to make sure that no one is priced out of a home.”

EDITOR’S NOTE: A copy of the Brady Housing Opportunities for Everyone Policy is attached.

As the next Mayor of Philadelphia Bob Brady will bring hope back to our city by fighting crime, investing in education and creating opportunity for all Philadelphians.
