MEDIA ADVISORY
WHO: MAYORAL CANDIDATE, MICHAEL NUTTER
WHAT: Smoke Detector Giveaway and tour of 60th street business corridor
WHEN: Saturday, March 24, 2007 12:00 P.M.
WHERE: 60th & Chestnut Streets
WHY: On Saturday mayoral candidate Michael Nutter will promote fire safety by giving away smoke detectors during a visit to West Philadelphia. Nutter will give away the smoke detectors on the corner of 60th and Chestnut at 12 p.m.
“With all the tragedies we have experienced this year because of fires, I think it is important that the community promote the use of smoke detectors to make sure that fires, when they happen, don’t become deadly,” said Nutter.
After the giveaway, Nutter will walk through the 60th Street business corridor and talk with business owners and residents of the area. He will ask about their concerns for Philadelphia and what hopes they have for the future.
Throughout his campaign, Nutter has made visits to a large number of businesses and residential areas of the city. “We try to reserve time on Saturdays to meet business owners and talk with residents,” said Nutter. They have a lot to say about what they want out of the next Mayor.”
