Nearly 900 Black School Choice Supporters to Meet in Philadelphia March 22-24

PHILADELPHIA, March 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO), a national membership organization of parental/school choice advocates, will hold its 7th Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA, March 22-24, 2007, at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market Street. The theme for Symposium 2007, as the event is known, is "Parental Choice Advocates: Fighting for Change, Achieving Results."

Over 900 parents, educators, youth, clergy, and elected officials, who are supporters of parental/school choice, are expected to attend. BAEO's Symposium is the nation's largest gathering of parental/school choice supporters.

"BAEO is a consistent voice and resource for black parents who are looking for a way to get the best education possible for their children," said BAEO Board Member State Rep. Dwight Evans, D-Philadelphia. "BAEO seeks to provide a roadmap toward greater academic success through choice for parents, educators, and students."

Among the many topics to be addressed at Symposium 2007 are: closing the achievement gap between black and white students, managing quality schools, grassroots mobilization, and the politics of parental choice. An additional youth track of Symposium 2007 will focus on preparing students for college, and developing leaders.
