ACORN to deliver formal invitations and questionnaires to Mayoral Candidates; will also deliver thousands of signed postcards in support of the ACORN Housing, Heat, & Home Repair Platform to each Candidate.
Thursday March 22nd
Bus will leave from ACORN office at 846 N. Broad Street, 11 AM
Travel to each campaign headquarter for postcard delivery
On Thursday March 22nd, ACORN members will board a bus and then travel to each of the Mayoral Candidate's Campaign office to drop off thousands of postcards gathered in support of ACORN's Housing, Heat, & Home Repair Platform. ACORN members will thank those candidates who have already committed to attending the March 29th Candidate Forum, and encourage those who have not yet committed to attend the event.
ACORN's PeopleFirst Campaign, calls on Mayoral Candidates to commit to:
Invest in Rowhouse Philadelphia & Support Neighborhood Preservation by Creating a new City Funded Home Repair Grants Program.
Keep our Utilities Safe & Affordable by Increasing resources for Weatherization & Increasing enrollment in PGW Affordable Programs.
Close the Gap in Affordable Housing by Creating 8000 new units of Affordable Housing in the next four years and Creating Inclusionary Zoning to require developers to build for all.
The PeopleFirst Platform has a broad degree of support from a diverse and growing body of organizations, including the Philadelphia NAACP, several public sector unions, Pennsylvania AARP, Pennsylvania PIRG and more. So far, Congressman Bob Brady, Congressman Chaka Fattah, and Former Councilman Michael Nutter have all committed to attend.
