BRADY SURGES IN LATEST POLL

(PHILADELPHIA) -In the first comprehensive poll conducted after his entry into the Philadelphia mayor's race, Congressman Bob Brady has surged into a commanding positio n and appears to have the strongest momentum as voters begin to focus on who they want to lead the city in the years ahead.

"This poll reflects what I've been saying as I campaign across the city: that voters are ready for a leader who can bring all of our neighborhoods together to make Philadelphia the great American city it can be," Brady said.

"I have told my campaign team not to be distracted by poll numbers, good or bad, but to spend every day moving our message of leadership based on strength and experience," Brady added. "If we stay focused on this message, we will be successful."

The SurveyUSA poll, conducted for WCAU-TV, shows that Brady has gained more than any other candidate since entering the race, with more than 18 percent of the support in the five-candidate field. Compared to previous surveys, Brady's support has grown the most, according to SurveyUSA offcials.

Brady said his surge in the latest poll dovetails with his successful money-rais ing campaign and recent endorsements from a broad cross-section of the community.

A veteran community leader known for his consensus-building skills, Brady has represented Pennsylvania's First Congressional District for nearly a decade. The district includes portions of South Philadelphia, West Philadelphia, North Philadelphia, Northeast Philadelphia, Southwest Philadelphia, Northwest Philadelphia, Center City, and parts of Delaware County.

The son of a police officer, Brady was born and raised in Philadelphia, graduated from St. Thomas More High School, worked as a carpenter, and has held a wide range of leadership positions, from Deputy Mayor for Labor in the administration of Philadelphia Mayor W. Wilson Goode to the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority.

In Congress, Brady increased Philadelphia's share of available federal funds for vocational and technical instruction programs, local infrastructure improvements, and national security projects such as the designation of the Port of Philadelphia as a militarily strategic facility.
