BRADY SETS SINGLE EVENT RECORD FOR FUNDRAISING
IN THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA

RAISES OVER $400,000 IN ONE EVENT AT CAMPAIGN LAUNCH EVENT FOR MAYOR

(PHILADELPHIA) — The Bob Brady For Mayor Campaign, today filed its first campaign finance report for the reporting period ending December 31, 2007. The report shatters the single-day fundraising totals of any candidate in the field and is more than any candidate for mayor in the modern era. In a three-hour period, Brady for Mayor raised $429,000.

Congressman Brady said, “While we set records for fundraising, the record that matters is the one I have worked hard to build over the past three decades. I understand that while the money we raised came over night, our success is built on the relationships I have developed over thousands of nights spent in every neighborhood of the city.”

Congressman Brady continued, “As I told my supporters that evening (December 23rd), I cannot express how grateful I am for the support and confidence my friends have shown in me as I launch my campaign for mayor. I make only one promise to them – I will work hard every day to make our city the great American city we know it can be.”

Brady’s finance report for the period ending December 31, 2006, shows that he has raised $429,000 so far, spent $24,711.65, and has $404,288.35 cash on hand.

Indicating that he expects to have raised more than $1 million for the race by the end of the week, Brady concluded, “I’m just getting started.”

A veteran community leader known for his consensus-building skills, Brady has represented Pennsylvania’s First Congressional District for nearly a decade. The district includes portions of South Philadelphia, West Philadelphia, North Philadelphia, Northeast Philadelphia, Southwest Philadelphia, Northwest Philadelphia, Center City, and parts of Delaware County.

The son of a police officer, Brady was born and raised in Philadelphia, graduated from St. Thomas More High School, worked as a carpenter, and has held a wide range of leadership positions, from Deputy Mayor for Labor in the administration of Philadelphia Mayor W. Wilson Goode to the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority.

In Congress, Brady increased Philadelphia’s share of available federal funds for vocational and technical instruction programs, local infrastructure improvements, and national security projects such as the designation of the Port of Philadelphia as a militarily strategic facility.
