MEDIA ADVISORY
WHO: Mayoral Candidate Michael Nutter
WHAT: Nutter’s Health Care Public Awareness Proposal
WHEN: Thursday, January 18, 2007 12:30 p.m.
WHERE: Entrance of Hahnemann Hospital, Broad and Vine Streets
WHY: In support of Governor Edward G. Rendell’s “Prescription for Pennsylvania,”— a plan that would provide affordable health care to many people who are currently uninsured – Mayoral candidate Michael Nutter will announce his proposal for a public awareness plan that will reach all Philadelphians to maximize participation in the program and bring medical coverage to thousands of uninsured citizens.
“It is up to us to make sure that every person, every small business, everyone in Philadelphia that is eligible for this program knows how to sign up for it,” said Nutter. “The Medicare prescription program had a national advertising roll out when it was determined that by the first deadline less people than expected signed up for the program,” said Nutter.
“We can do no less here in Philadelphia than roll out a well-rounded public awareness campaign to support a plan whose time has finally arrived and reach those people in need,” continued Nutter.
Nutter will outline several strategies for a city wide outreach campaign on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the entrance of Hahnemann Hospital.
