MAYORAL CANDIDATE DWIGHT EVANS TO DISCUSS PUBLIC SAFETY PLAN WITH YOUTH

PHILADELPHIA --- Mayoral candidate Dwight Evans will host a “chat and chew” discussion on his public safety plan with a group of youth in the “Don’t Fall Down in the Hood” program at the Institute for the Development of African American Youth on Monday, January 8th at 4:30 PM. Evans released his detailed plan for making Philadelphia safer during his announcement for Mayor before more than 1,200 supporters on December 11th; his campaign slogan is “A Safer Philadelphia – Block by Block.”

Evans will meet with and hear from dozens of students in the successful “Don’t Fall Down in the Hood Program.” Initiated over eight years ago at the Institute for the Development of African American Youth at Temple University, the program is designed to reduce the possession and use of firearms among Philadelphia youth, ages 14 to 18 years old. Juveniles adjudicated delinquent in Philadelphia Family Court for firearm violations are ordered to the program as a condition of probation or discharge from institutional placement.
