State Representative Dwight Evans will host the second annual “Dwight Evans Civic Leadership Summit” at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. The summit exists to empower youth with the knowledge and tools to become civically engaged while improving the quality of life in their communities. The summit will engage 12 students from five Philadelphia High Schools through workshops, interaction with civic leaders, and the introduction and completion of Project Citizen.
Project Citizen is designed for students to focus on the role of state and local governments in relation to their neighborhoods and communities. Specifically, Project Citizen asks students to identify a problem or issue in their community, gather information on the problem, examine different solutions, develop their own public policy, and create an action plan to be implemented. During the Summit, students will have the opportunity to present their work through team presentations.
