PHILADELPHIA --- Mayoral candidate Dwight Evans will join members of Laborers International Union of America Local 332, Senator Anthony Williams and Representative Ronald Waters meeting and greeting shoppers in West Philadelphia beginning at 10:15 a.m. Sat., Dec. 16. Evans, who is chairman of the state House Appropriations Committee, announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination earlier in the week before a crowd of more than 1,000 people. His campaign slogan is “A Safer Philadelphia – Block by Block.”
“Businesses succeed when neighborhoods are safe and secure,” Evans said. “These are vibrant commercial districts where people feel safe when they shop, and I’m excited that union members, who drive our economy, will help me highlight that fact.”
The event is the first in a series of public appearances Evans will make in neighborhoods throughout the city to emphasize that public safety is integral to building a community where education, commerce and culture can thrive.
