SugarHouse Casino

A new neighbor for Waterfront Square Towers
- 6-8 proposed restaurants
- Waterfront promenade
- Day-use boating
The SugarHouse Casino would sit between the Waterfront Square Towers, which are scheduled to open next year, and Penn Treaty Park – at the site of the former Jack Frost Sugar refinery. The 16 acre site, if developed, would first have a temporary, 1,500-machine slot parlor, which would eventually be replaced by a 5,000-machine casino and a hotel tower.
Just blocks from Fishtown and Northern Liberties, the casino would require major work to be done along I-95, especially at the Girard Ave. exit.
The project is being developed by a group called Midwest Gaming & Entertainment, along with former State Supreme Court Justice William Lamb, attorney Richard Sprague, developer Daniel Keating and auto-sales magnate Robert Potamkin.
